Color Combinations – Choosing a color scheme

Choosing a color scheme can be a daunting endeavor. For example, I tormented on the colors to paint the exterior of my Victorian house, I ordered every book on old house painting, I could find, and I discovered that all contradicted each other on the basis of “rules”. Finally, the color scheme came to me. I want to paint the house with my favorite colors! I like yellow and red, so just burned gold and red, it has become, with the temple dark green, shutter green, dark yellow, white and black framed windows.

Temple of green paint for porch ceilings, believed to keep evil spirits, is a historic Southern superstition and tradition. Even our local museum of art history had painted the fuse boxes in that color. The black outlines of sheep and messages (wooden window dividers) highlighted antique glass and even more depth to the windows. This type of paint is defined as the eyeliner – a makeup enhancement. The front plate of the trim of the window frame is painted in a contrasting color.

Traditionally, Southern porches were painted gray, but I feel the earth, so we painted our porches a deep green. The ground color anchors the porch to the lawn green and hot summer days, cooling is dark green. If the grass is brown in winter, green porches offer the promise of spring green and relieve our gray days. Dark green with some black pigments mixed in a rich green that it looks ordinary.

Grouping Colors for Harmony
Monochromatic colors with different shades, tones and shades of the same color, give the impression of different colors and provide variety and interest. A unique color scheme gives a unified response, peaceful and harmonious. Monochromatic colors bind effectively creating a calming presence during the whole things in general, but boring or dull because of a lack of color contrast and liveliness.

Choosing Color Schemes: Colors And Physiological Response

Imagine you’re driving across a field of green grass, interspersed with yellow flowers. You will notice, notice the yellow flowers on the green grass, because yellow is the color of our eyes first. Paint the walls a light yellow imitating a sunny spot and creates a feeling of peace for the occupants of the room. Lace curtains white or colored with a small amount of bright yellow dye, a house is sunny and cheerful.

However, bright yellow produce feelings of anxiety and hostility. Therefore yellow lights are used sparingly, especially in centers of high anxiety, such as kitchens. So bright, shiny, that the yellow paint over-stimulate some people to contribute to feelings of anger. However, the same dazzling yellow room just the perfect place on a cloudy day in a cold climate.

Red is the color of the longest and strongest of our eyes process. Red is like a cup of tea or coffee, it awakens the senses. Walls dining room are painted dark red Red is not only romantic and festive, but they also help the food tastes fabulous. At night, in low light, is dark sumptuous and sensual. In the morning, the same red stimulates and motivates you to live the day fully.
